Today we honor The Twelfth Sunday in Ordinary Time!

🚧 We are Officially a Construction Site…

This past week a lot of construction has occurred, as well as some unexpected damage due to water and a storm. Ceilings had to be removed earlier than planned and materials moved and walls removed, so we are not only officially a construction site on all levels of our parish, but we “look” like one, too! Please support us during this time, pray with us, help our priests to look past the disorder, and support us now when we need you. This is a time when we look ahead to what will be, and in the interim, we come together to support those who lead and guide us. Please give today to our Friary Rectory Fund. (Don’t forget to send Monsignor a note of encouragement, he has taken on a lot, and it has been an emotional week for him. He is our pastor and we need to pray for him and all of our priests, and give strength and encouragement.)

🔔 Our Bell Gets Another Rope!

This past week David and Chet installed the new rope on our Tower Bell! Now, we can both ‘toll’ and joyfully ‘ring’ our bell! We also need people who want to help us ring for Masses, so see anyone on staff today to volunteer, or send us a note by Clicking Here!

☕️ Cafe’ Changes This Sunday…

Due to some unexpected damage in the Undercroft, our menu may be altered and some of the areas may be off limits. Please enjoy us this Sunday, but allow for some changes and follow the posted signs.

🔎 Focus in Brief Gets a Fresh Look!

If you noticed, our revised image for our weekly publication is fresher and reflects the new parish interior! Enjoy the new look of Focus in Brief every Thursday!

😎 Blessing of the Seersucker Returns This Sunday!

Join Saint Miriam as we continue an annual and ‘fun’ tradition this coming Sunday, June 25th. After the 10:30 Morning Mass, parishioners will be led out of the church and into the front garden for a service called, “Blessing of the Seersucker”! This brief service, with a uniquely Southern take on the “kirking” or blessing of the tartans, celebrated by Monsignor Jim’s former parish in Washington DC has made its way to Saint Miriam for some eight eight years now! While tartans may represent ancestral links with Britain, Saint Miriam makes seersucker representative its own clan, especially those who struggle through a hot summer! Help us welcome in summer, thank God for all we have, and for good weather and wonderful vacations by joining us on June 25th and enjoy a souther drink on the lawn with us, too! The first 12 folks who enter wearing something seersucker also take home a special gift so arrive early!

🚧 Construction Flood Hits Saint Miriam.

Sadly, the roof was open for a steel beam when the weather struck this afternoon. We suffered some water damage on all levels and are mitigating the issues through the remainder of this week. Therefore all THURSDAY services, including Adoration, Mass, and Rosary are canceled. We apologize for inconvenience, but this will allow us time to get ready for Sunday! Please pray for us as we make needed repairs. To help offset our unexpected costs, please use this link with appreciation.

🐛 Ordinary Time, Extraordinary God!

We, as a church, return to Ordinary Time! Because the term ordinary in English most often means something that’s not special or distinctive, many people think that Ordinary Time refers to parts of the calendar of the Catholic Church that are unimportant. It should be noted that the season of Ordinary Time makes up most of our Liturgical Year and refers to those periods that fall outside of the major liturgical seasons, yet Ordinary Time is far from unimportant or uninteresting! Ordinary Time is called “ordinary” not because it is common, but simply because the weeks of Ordinary Time are numbered. The Latin word ordinalis, which refers to numbers in a series, stems from the Latin word ordo, from which we get the English word order. Thus, the numbered weeks of Ordinary Time in fact represent the ordered life of the Church, or the period in which we live our lives neither in feasting (as in the Christmas and Easter seasons) or in more severe penance (as in Advent and Lent), but in watchfulness and expectation of the Second Coming of Christ. Likewise, the normal liturgical color for Ordinary Time is green and soon the vestments and altar cloths will bear the color! It is in this glorious time we learn of the works of our Lord! Come and meet an extraordinary God in this wonderful Ordinary time!

💦 New Water Tank Installed!

As we prepared for construction, we needed to inventory our mechanical  systems and  noted that while we replaced the boilers, the hot water tank was almost 16 years old and using a lot of energy. So, in compliance with our “Green Policy” as a parish that wishes to care for God’s earth, and reduce our carbon footprint, we replaced the tank to a modern version with a 9 year warranty! It produces faster hot water, with less energy, and more of it, too!
A win-win!

🍹 Pucker Up, Baby…It’s Seersucker Time!

Pucker Up, Baby for The Blessing of the Seersucker this year! Our annual tradition continues! After the 10:30 am Mass on June 25th, (see announcement details below) all our parishioners will be led out of the church to welcome in summertime and this year everyone gets their choice of special southern drinks, too! There will be both alcohol and non-alcohol versions so have fun! (And our pastor, Monsignor Jim, will don on his finest Seersucker Suit, too!) Come and see! Join us on June 25th at 10:30 am!

📲 Parish App Issues? Don’t Worry!

We apologize for any issues you may have experienced with our parish app! It seems that another non-profit, also called Saint Miriam, but for homeless people also wished to have their own app and so we worked together (as Christians should!) and we changed our App name to Saint Miriam – Flourtown! Please delete and reload your App to take full advantage of the changes and to eliminate any loading issues! Off we GROW!

🏚 Our FIRST Scheduled Event in the New Friary Announced!

We are excited to announce that a small group space will also be included as part of the new Friary Rectory, and the group below,
Laudato Si, will be the FIRST such group to take place in the Rectory so sign up now as the space will be limited! Exciting times for our parish! Sign up below!

🌏 Pope Francis’ Laudato Si Comes to Saint Miriam!

As the care for God’s earth and our environment have become politically charged issues of late, we decided that as a parish community, with a strong “Green Policy” and emphasis on reducing our carbon footprint, we should engage this issues together and see what insights God brings to us. Therefore, beginning this September, we would like to form a small group with a desire to read (or re-read) Pope Francis’ Encyclical, Laudato Si, (Medieval Central Italian for “Praise be to you”) on the call of every Christian to care for God’s world. With so much information and conversation, often based on misinformation or hijacked fact, we felt this a great opportunity to engage, grow, and support one another in developing our human role to be co-creators with God and within creation. We will provide the books, you provide the willingness to grow! Contact us today and we will begin our journey this fall with respectful sharing, dialogue, and growth! We will also be bringing in many elements to honor this group and discussion including Altar Candles, Paschal Candle, Saint Miriam Water Bottles, and much more! This will be a very exciting group to be part of!

📰 Social Media Construction Updates Coming!

Saint Miriam will begin to post construction updates weekly on our social media venues to keep everyone posted on progress, closures, door changes, etc. Please keep up with us and stay safe as we build a new Rectory! Please also consider helping us by making a donation  toward this project and in return you will receive a miniature St Francis Statue!

👨‍🏫 We Need Teachers for Fall!

Please think about volunteering to help us this fall with PREP/CCD? We need two teachers or assistants to help us as our classes are growing! Please see Sean Hall or Father John today, or email us here! Don’t let us, the kids, or God down…if you feel he call…help us make this next year fun and exciting for our children!

📅 Ministry Team Schedules for July Are Ready, too!

Please contact her for any date conflicts like vacations, etc., or choose a date you’d like to serve! Kate’s email is Kate.McClelland@mySaintMiriam.org! Thank you for your service to God and the parish!

🏗 Rectory Construction Has Begun!

The construction has begun and they are making great progress, so watch as building demands and changes to entry and parking, as  we build our new Friary Rectory! Please give to this effort by Clicking Here, and receive your miniature bronze statue of St. Francis Joliet! Then, watch for the construction to begin as we become even better!

🏗 Rectory Construction Changes!

Our construction will be occurring from June – September and will cause us to lose the main Admin/School walkway for much of that time. Please watch signs and postings and also note that the Upper Road will be closed, too, when construction vehicles need to use the ‘construction staffing area’ to bring materials and lift them to the second level. As they say, please pardon our dust and any inconvenience as we build a new home!

Saint Miriam in Life: The News!

No Hate at Saint Miriam! Soon “Hate Has No Home Here!” signs will blanket the front edge of our entire front campus wall facing Bethlehem Pike! The hatred and rhetoric against religions, Muslims, immigrants, gays and lesbians, the transgender, refugees, journalists, as well as politics has become so volatile and hate-filled that we are taking a visible stand! Join us in this effort by supporting our parish as we are a place where hate is not welcome!

A Photo Directory for Parish is Coming! Saint Miriam Parish is growing and we want to make sure that we know and stay in touch with our parishioners. So, we are working on updating our parish database calledParishSoft  to ensure that we have the necessary information for each of you.  The updated database will be helpful to our priests in the event of a pastoral emergency it will give them access to your contact information. And, with your approval only, we can create a directory that will include your photo, but not your personal information. Therefore, we are requesting that each of parishioner send a photo (you and your family members; photos of your children are optional.) We would also like you to include the following information for each member of your family. Please send to  SaintMiriamPhotos@mysaintmiriam.org. 🎯 Help us Gain a High Net Score?!

Saint Miriam, in an effort to continue to grow and be of good service our community, has engaged with Net Promoter Score® to determine our overall experience. The process is quite simple: cards are handed out and/or a version is now available online  (we have both) and scores are tallied and we end with a Net Promotor Score.  We will do this process for both the schools and the parish beginning this week! We will calculate our NPS using the answer to a key question, using a 0-10 pictographic scale based on one simple inquiry: How likely is it that you would recommend [brand] to a friend or colleague? It’s fast, simple, no name or other identifiers are used so complete it today before you leave Sunday Mass, or right here online!

🚧 Rectory Construction Changes!

🚚 Moving Help Needed Sunday!

It is time for a little help! We found out that our insurance company and builder need the entire Betsy and Walter Diener Room and Library cleared out by Monday so that they can take off the roof and install a steel beam! We need help to move the furnishings from the Library to the adjacent school classroom. The good news is that rooms are very close to one another, but many hands will make light work. Please volunteer this Sunday? If you can help, even for an hour or so,  please contact us ASAP? Thank you!

🙏🏼 Mass Donations are Down! It is unbelievable to think, but our Mass Intentions are very low. We recognize it is summer soon, but God doesn’t deserve a ‘backseat’ in your life, neither does your parish. Please, make an intention today. It is a beautiful tribute as Catholics and one of the most important things we do is pray and offer the sacrifice of the Mass.  Please…don’t forget to make your Mass intentions today by Clicking HereTogether, we honor God together.

🎀 Official Ground breaking Ceremony is This Sunday!

The building of our new Friary Rectory has begun and we ask you to join us this Sunday, after the 10:30am Mass, when we will hold an official ceremonial ground breaking ceremony! Come and join us as we Pray to God for His blessings on our new project, and for the safety of all who will work on our campus this summer to bring to us a new addition! Please be careful on the campus and watch the newsletters and social media for updates! Please also consider helping us by making a donation toward this project and in return you will receive a miniature St Francis Statue!

🍹 Pucker Up, Baby!

🎯 Help us Gain a High Net Score?!

Saint Miriam, in an effort to continue to grow and be of good service our community, has engaged with Net Promoter Score® to determine our overall experience. The process is quite simple: cards are handed out and/or a version is now available online and scores are tallied and we end with a Net Promotor Score.  We will do this process for both the schools and the parish beginning this week! We will calculate our NPS using the answer to a key question, using a 0-10 pictographic scale based on one simple inquiry: How likely is it that you would recommend [brand] to a friend or colleague? It’s fast, simple, no name or other identifiers are used so complete it today before you leave Sunday Mass!

📰 Social Media Construction Updates Coming!

Saint Miriam will begin to post construction updates weekly on our social media venues to keep everyone posted on progress, closures, door changes, etc. Please keep up with us and stay safe as we build a new Rectory!

👨‍🏫 We Need Teachers!

Please think about volunteering to help us this fall with PREP/CCD? We need two teachers or assistants to help us as our classes are growing! Please see Sean Hall or Father John today! Don’t let us, the kids, or God down…if you feel he call…help us make this next year fun and exciting for our children!

🌞 Blessing of the Seersucker Returns on June 25th!

Join Saint Miriam as we continue an annual and ‘fun’ tradition on Sunday, June 25th. The first 12 for;ks who enter wearing something seersucker also take home a special gift so arrive early!

📅 Ministry Team Schedules for July Are Ready, too!

We are pleased to have posted our Ministry Team Schedules for June and Kate is now working on July’s Schedule with Monsignor Jim. Please contact her for any date conflicts like vacations, etc., or choose a date you’d like to serve! Kate’s email is Kate.McClelland@mySaintMiriam.org! Thank you for your service to God and the parish!

🎓 End of Year PREP/CCD Pinning Ceremony Sunday and Register and Save for Fall!

Join us as we honor our PREP/CCD Students and watch as they receive their pins for a great year off learning and growing! Join us on Sunday, June 4th at the 9:00am Family Mass! Also, get ready for fall by registering your child early and save! A deposit payment of $100.00 per student is required to retain your child’s registration in the Saint Miriam PREP/CCD program. The total cost for the 2017-2018 Program is $200 per child (with an early discount to $145 if paid by July 1st. Scholarships available for multiple children, please see, or email, our DOE). Please note that an additional $50 per child for sacramental fee for Confirmation and First Holy Communion will also apply. Thank you!

🎯 Help us Gain a High Net Score?!

Saint Miriam, in an effort to continue to grow and be of good service our community, has engaged with Net Promoter Score® to determine our overall experience. The process is quite simple: cards are handed out and/or a version is made available online (we will have both) and scores are tallied and we end with a Net Promotor Score.

🕴🏻Our New Ambo is Here!

The final liturgical furniture piece has arrived! Our new Lecturn or Ambo has been installed! It was the last ordered piece to our new Sanctuary Set from New Holland Church Furniture and is stunningly beautiful! To allow us to enjoy the new furnishings, Monsignor divided the cost over the last two years and the set is now complete! Thank you to all who helped make this possible!

🏕 Summer Camp Begins Next Week!

Unlike many of the mega camps, we offer personalized attention for every child with low camper to staff ratios. We cater to preschool aged children and older – and welcome friends and siblings regardless of membership at our school or church.  Learn more here, the fun begins June 12th!

🏫 Summer School Closing Fast Approaching.

Please note that our schools will officially close for the summer break on Friday, June 9th 2017with an annual end of year “Moving Up Ceremony” at 9:00am! This event is open to the public, so join us as we bid a summer farewell to our students!

⛪ Weekday Confessions Come to Saint Miriam!

🌞 Blessing of the Seersucker Returns on June 25th!

Join Saint Miriam as we continue an annual and ‘fun’ tradition on Sunday, June 25th. The first 12 for;ks who enter wearing something seersucker also take home a special gift so arrive early!

🎨 Bell Tower Gets It Coat of Paint this Thursday and Friday!

Please welcome our own John Shoemaker back as he completes the exterior painting project from last year, but the highest point – our Bell Tower! The exterior louvers need a coat of paint to preserve them, and match the new trim and John will be 40′ high so watch your step and pray for the safety of all of our construction workers and volunteers!

🏗 Rectory Construction Set to Begin Monday, June 5th!

The builder is ready! Please watch as soon construction will begin on our new Friary Rectory! Please give to this effort by Clicking Here, and receive your miniature bronze statue of St. Francis Joliet! Then, watch for the construction to begin as we become even better!

🚧 Rectory Construction Changes!

Help Ring Our Bells! We are seeking a few bell ringers to help during Sunday Masses! Each of our Masses requires that the bells in our Bell Tower ring out at 30 minutes before, 15 minutes before, and at the start of Mass, and we need some extra ringers! Care to help? Contact us by Clicking Here
or see anyone on staff today!

A Photo Directory for Parish is Coming! Saint Miriam Parish is growing and we want to make sure that we know and stay in touch with our parishioners.
