Today we Honor…The Twenty-eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time!

🗣Remember… A Pastor’s Forum Is This Sunday! Join us this coming  Sunday, October 9th, 2016, for an exciting event! In lieu of a homily at all three Masses, Monsignor Jim will open a brief Pastor’s Forum! You will hear directly from him on recent changes of the past and some exciting changes for tomorrow. He will address any concerns and fill you in on some needed transitions, including staff members. Let us embrace all that we have become, and all that God will help become anew at Saint Miriam! See you Sunday!

🏆 And the Winner Is… The winner of our first annual photo contest is…Deacon Patricia Heffner! Her two photos were judged to capture the beauty of the campus (Best Nature and Still Life)  and the dedication of our people (Best Campus Life) ! She won a $100 gift card and Dinner for Two! Way to go, Deacon Pat! Thank you to all who entered! View her winning  photos by Clicking Here!  See you next summer!

🎫 Attention Lottery Winners! If you have not yet received your lottery tickets, or you need more, please see someone on staff.  We only have a few remaining! And, if you have received them, please be sure to return the money and the stubs by October 30th! Without them you won’t have a chance to win over $4,000 in prize money! Good luck and thank you for helping to support our school!

🎃Our Pumpkin Patch is Open Daily! Our annual Pumpkin Patch is open daily from sunrise to sunset! Stop by the campus, pick up a pumpkin, and support our kids! This year’s crop (of students and pumpkins) is simply grand!

🙏🏼 Don’t Forget God This Week? Every Thursday from 5:00pm – 6:00pm, the Blessed Sacrament will be exposed for adoration in the Sanctuary before our Thursday Mass at 6:00pm! Understood simply, Eucharistic Adoration is adoring or honoring the Eucharistic Presence of Christ. In a deeper sense, it involves “the contemplation of the Mystery of Christ truly present before us”.  During Eucharistic Adoration, we “watch and wait”, we remain “silent” in His Presence and open ourselves to His Graces which flow from the Eucharist … By worshiping the Eucharistic Jesus, we become what God wants us to be! Like a magnet, The Lord draws us to Himself and gently transforms us. Join us every Thursday! Need 24 good reasons to come? Read this article!

💌 Join us and Give to build our Pastor’s Fund? A few weeks ago we asked for your support in building a pastor’s salary fund. Monsignor has worked for us for almost 9 years now and has given much to help us remain a vibrant and growing parish. But, with his schedule ever increasing, he has not been able to take on the additional course work at the university he normally teaches at in the fall and spring terms; it simply will not fit into his parish schedule, and so he once again has made a sacrifice and declined the offer to teach this fall. This leaves him in a terribly tight financial position and quite honestly…is our problem to deal with now!  Monsignor has come to us and requested a salary of $25,000 (Yes, he asked for only $25,000 for all he does and the very long hours he works). Will you help us to afford this needed option by giving a weekly or monthly donation ear marked just for him? Please prayerfully consider our request and see Alan today, or just complete the special insert this Sunday and return it to us today….if you are willing to put our pastor first this fall.

🕸🕷Join us for a Haunted and Historic Tour! Join Union Cemetery of Whitemarsh at Saint Miriam for a classic All Hallow’s Eve flashlight tour that includes an exciting tour of our century grounds and a walk through the pumpkin patch. Experience the enchanting art and landscape of our cemetery grounds after dark, as an experienced tour guide leads you along winding, dimly-lit pathways and behind the graves of historic figures that include: Harvey Longabaugh, the brother of the Sundance Kid; Thomas May Peirce, founder of Peirce College; the Van Billiard Family who perished on the Titanic;  and George Jago, a Civil War soldier as well as many  other Civil and Revolutionary War veterans.  The nighttime walking tours will focus on the cemetery’s rich history, and of course, some of the liveliest spirits buried within our hallowed grounds, after all, Union Cemetery is on the Haunted Places in Pennsylvania list! Tours will last approximately 30-45 minutes, and will be followed by seasonal refreshments aside blazing fire pits near our pumpkin patch.

Two evenings of the All Hallow’s Eve Walking Tour: Haunted History at Union Cemetery:  Friday, October 28th and Saturday, October 29th.  Each night, tours will begin at 7PM. Attendees are advised to wear comfortable clothes and shoes, and to bring a flashlight!

Saint Miriam in Life: Other News!

🎯 Right on Target: Stop and Visit Joliet!  St. Francis Joliet arrived and is being installed this week in the brand new Section F, The St. Francis of Assisi Green Memorial Section of our Union Cemetery of Whitemarsh at Saint Miriam! Please be sure to stop and take a look at this beautiful addition to our campus and watch for your opportunity coming soon to take home a piece of history!

👨‍👩‍👧 Join a Small Group! Our Small Group opportunities return to Saint Miriam! Please take a moment to pick up a Small Group Brochure or visit our  website to learn more! This year we added a couple new groups and our Prayer Shawl Group moved to the 2nd Sunday of every month! All these exciting changes are ready for you to join in the fun this fall!

🙏🏼 Weekly Mass & Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament!

Foyer Groups are small groups of 5-8 persons sharing simple meals and fellowship and the intention is to simply to have fun.  A ‘Group Captain’ can be chosen to schedule, and then each month, one or two of the members host a gathering. They convene the group and welcome all into their home and provide one or two main dishes to share. Then everyone else brings something, too! It’s that simple and that much fun! There is no agenda, just fellowship and building a great community!

🐶🐰🐱 Annual Blessing of the Animals for St. Francis Day! Join us on Saturday, October 1st at 11:00am in the Angels of Assisi Garden as we bless all God’s creatures great and small! All are welcome and all pets receive a gift, too! Join us for this warm and blessed event!

💰Join us and Give to build our Pastor’s Fund?
