A so very wonderful way to begin the New Year! It all takes place on New Year’s Day, The Octave of Christmas, at 10:30am for the Solemnity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of God!

💒 Parish Offices & School Closed for New Years Holiday! Please remember that our parish offices and schools will be closed to give our team time away Monday, January 2nd! Everyone – including the school children and educators –  will return on Tuesday, January 3rd! Happy and Blessed New Year!!

🖥 Web and Mail Updates Coming! Our web designer will be moving our servers and email accounts during the first week of January to reduce our expenses and increase our bandwidth to better serve you! If you experience any intermittent downtime, now you know why!

💵 Consider An End-of Year Gifts That Sustain Saint Miriam? One of the ways we remain financially strong and viable is that we pay off all outstanding vendor debt by the end of every year.  Is is easy?  No, but from the date of our founding some almost nine years ago, were have achieved this with the generous help from all of you! Why? Our pastor decided to implement this policy from the start of the parish, because he noticed that too many parishes fail as debt increases and then becomes insurmountable. Does it work?  Yes! Think about it, in less than eight years Saint Miriam did the impossible: built a vibrant and growing parish, school, and cemetery with little debt and growing revenue. Please…if you are considering a generous gift, make it by December 31st – take the tax benefit and allow us to move into 2017 on a strong footing! See Monsignor or Alan today or Click Here to make a generous gift online!

🏡 The Building of Friary Rectory Has Come to Saint Miriam! Our priests give their lives for us and sacrifice in many ways. Monsignor has been living in an RV since we moved to our beautiful campus. But, many do not know the reason is that he sold his home and donated 100% of the proceeds to secure our mortgage here. Yes, that’s right! Father gave us all of the money from the sale of his home and because of that generous gift, we were able to enjoy all that way have here today. He also pays for his RV every month on his own! However, Whitemarsh Township sent a notice that he is not permitted to reside on the campus in an RV and he must move immediately. The notice is now almost three months old and we have been working toward a solution and they have allowed us some leeway to get a plan done. Therefore, with the generous help of David, Greg, and our team we have designed a new rectory! Soon the proposed architectural drawings will be posted in the Diener Room and we will be seeking your support. As you know, we offer many prayers for all of our benefactors, whether donations are large or small. But, we are now praying intently for those souls who have the means to give us a larger gift. The building of our Friary Rectory must start in the spring, and we are in urgent need of gifts in the range of $10,000-$50,000 to ensure that will happen. How we will beg Our Lord to reward you a hundred-fold above and beyond the measure with which you give to us! May God reward you! Thank you for your considerations and prayers. If you can support this effort, please see Alan or Monsignor.

🏵 Sponsorships Available for Some Exciting Additions! Please see Monsignor Jim or Alan today to sponsor a new Pulpit, scheduled for completion in March, or the beautiful new Hanging Cross to be erected over our Altar in February! You may make these memorial tributes in honor of someone you love, too! Two once-in-a-lifetime opportunities! Act fast for a beautiful tribute!

🍯 CrockPot Pot Luck Comes to Saint Miriam in February! Join us for our very first “Saint Miriam Crock Pot Potluck Dinner Night” where you will experience homemade specialty dishes from appetizers to main courses to desserts all created in crock pots! We added a new reception counter and are ready for some help now! So, if you could donate a few hours a week, mostly mornings, on days of your choice, please let Msgr. Jim or Kathleen know? Thank you!

🍷 Bread & Wine Sponsors Needed… Remember that Saint Miriam offers Bread and Wine Sponsorships in addition to Honor, Memorial, and Sanctuary Lamp Masses, too! This is an opportunity for the Altar Bread and Wine to be memorialized for a loved one.  Donations can be made for these in memory of loved ones both living and deceased for one month at a time and covers the cost of providing bread and wine for the Holy Eucharist in honor of your intentions. And for each of these intention opportunities at Saint Miriam, an acknowledgement of your memorial will appear in the Sunday printed bulletin, online at our website, and during the announcements before every Mass; and we also offer a card that can be given to the family of the loved one, too! These are deeply moving and beautiful ways to honor our loved ones. Please, give a memorial today by Clicking Here.

Join Us On Thursdays! Every Thursday from 5:00pm – 6:00pm, the Blessed Sacrament will be exposed for adoration in the Sanctuary before our Thursday Mass at 6:00pm! Understood simply, Eucharistic Adoration is adoring or honoring the Eucharistic Presence of Christ. In a deeper sense, it involves “the contemplation of the Mystery of Christ truly present before us”.  During Eucharistic Adoration, we “watch and wait”, we remain “silent” in His Presence and open ourselves to His Graces which flow from the Eucharist … By worshiping the Eucharistic Jesus, we become what God wants us to be! Like a magnet, The Lord draws us to Himself and gently transforms us. Join us every Thursday! Need 24 good reasons to come? Read this article!

Christmas Pageant is This Sunday! Our annual Christmas pageant is Sunday, December 18th 2016 after the 10:30 am Morning Mass. But don’t fret! Cookies and more will be served for the brief set up needed so plan to stay! The holiday season is a coming soon and having the kids perform is one of our church’s favorite Christmas activities is wonderful way to enjoy the coming of Christ! Join us and support or children!

🌲A Saint Miriam Very Merry Christmas 2016! Remember that Christmas falls on a Sunday so our schedule is Christmas Eve: Family Mass at 4:30pm with Visit from St. Nick, followed by fellowship and carol sing along. Midnight Mass at Eight o’Clock at 8:00pm! Christmas Day: Two Masses only at 9:00am and 11:00am! If you are coming to Christmas Eve Family Mass, please bring a dish to share for our gathering after in the Undercroft? Please let Lorraine know today!

♬ A Note for PREP/CCD Classes This Sunday!Just a reminder that this Sunday following the 10:30am mass with be our children’s Nativity Play.   We will all attend mass together.  PREPlay will leave for class after the homily as usual.  PREP students will leave after Communion to begin to get ready. Once mass concludes, we will set the stage and get ready for the performance which will begin approximately 15 minutes after mass concludes.  During that time, we invite parents and guests to enjoy coffee, tea and cookies in the Diener Room (library).  The full café will be available at the conclusion of the play.

🎄It’s Time to “Green” (Decorate) Saint Miriam! Why not spend some time after the Christmas Play this Sunday to  help ‘Green’ the church for Christmas! Nativities to go up, lights to don, trees to decorate and so much more! Egg Nog and cookies will be out, so plan to stay and get into the Christmas spirit!

🍞🍷Bread & Wine Sponsors Needed… Remember that Saint Miriam offers Bread and Wine Sponsorships in addition to Honor, Memorial, and Sanctuary Lamp Masses, too!

🌃Join us for The Longest Night This Coming Wednesday! Saint Miriam, will once again offer the community what has become widely known as a ‘Blue Christmas Service’ we entitle, The Longest Night this coming Wednesday, December 21st 2016 at 6:30pm. This service recognizes that not everyone is up and cheery for the Christmas holidays. There is a growing attentiveness to the needs of people who are”blue” at Christmas. Increasing numbers of churches are creating sacred space for people living through dark times. Such services are reflective, accepting where we really are, and holding out healing and hope. And that is why Saint Miriam will hold its The Longest Night Service on the actual Winter Solstice, the longest day of the year, with the year’s least amount of daylight. Symbols not to be lost or overlooked.

📰 A Little Press For The Longest Night, Too! We received two beautiful articles about our upcoming service, please click the links and enjoy then plan to attend!

They will continue to collect books and the next beneficiary will be a veterans group. Thank you for your generosity and commitment to the community.

End of Year Giving is Needed: Please Help Us This Year? One of the ways we remain financially strong and viable is that we pay off all outstanding vendor debt by the end of every year. Is is easy? No, but from the date of our founding some almost nine years ago, were have achieved this with the generous help from all of you! Why? Our pastor decided to implement this policy from the start of the parish, because he noticed that too many parishes fail as debt increases and then becomes insurmountable. Does it work? Yes! Think about it, in less than eight years Saint Miriam did the impossible: built a vibrant and growing parish, school, and cemetery with little debt and growing revenue. Please…if you are considering a generous gift, make it by December 31st – take the tax benefit and allow us to move into 2017 on a strong footing!See Monsignor today!

Annual Raymond Leight Award and New Year’s Day Mass! Remember that January 1st is a Holy Day of Obligation in our Church and honors Our Blessed Mother! Too, we honor someone who gave generously throughout the year in time, talent, and treasure so join us and see who will receive this annual award and stay for a reception that is so very wonderful! New Year’s Day at 10:30am!

⌚️ A Time Change in PREP/CCD Classes The Week and Next! As you know, we have our Nativity Play coming up on Sunday, December 18th following the 10:30am Morning Mass. To ensure we are ready, we will need to have a full practice in the church this Sunday, December 11th.  To make that happen, we will need to move the Family Mass to 10:30am this week and again on December 18th.  Everything will remain the same.  PREPlay children will still go to class after the homily and the PREP children will go to class after Communion until 11:45.  We will then all practice in the Sanctuary after class. Also, as I mentioned in a previous e-mail, we are in need of a few PREPlay children to participate as well.  They should be able to stay seated and attentive for about 45 minutes.  If your child(ren) plan to participate, please remain after their class so that they can practice with the other children. Please Shaun Little know if you have any questions. Also, since this is our only full cast practice, please make every effort to be in attendance on Sunday.

🎊 End of Year Giving is Always needed, Especially at the End of Every Year!

🔆 It’s Almost Time to Decorate!  Annually, we help prepare the grounds and indoors for the Season of Christmas and we need your help! See Sean Hall to volunteer to add lights to our trees and warmth to our Altar this year!

🎭 Christmas Pageant is Coming! Our annual Christmas pageant is Sunday, December 18th 2016 after the 10:30 am Morning Mass. The holiday season is a coming soon and having the kids perform is one of our church’s favorite Christmas activities is wonderful way to enjoy the coming of Christ! Join us!

🌚Join us for The Longest Night! Saint Miriam, will once again offer the community what has become widely known as a “Blue Christmas” service that they entitle, The Longest Night on Wednesday, December 21st 2016 at 6:30pm. This service will take place in beautifully renovated Sanctuary located in Flourtown on the corner of Bethlehem Pike and Church Road. It is open to everyone. This service recognizes that not everyone is up and cheery for the Christmas holidays.  There is a growing attentiveness to the needs of people who are ‘blue’ at Christmas. Increasing numbers of churches are creating sacred space for people living through dark times. Such services are reflective, accepting where we really are, and holding out healing and hope. And that is why on December 21st at 6:30pm, Saint Miriam will hold its The Longest Night Service on the actual Winter Solstice, the longest day of the year, with the year’s least amount of daylight. Symbols not to be lost or overlooked.

The 2016 Saint Miriam Crystal Tree Needs You!  As we get closer to Christmas, we begin to turn our thoughts to those without and every year we open our generous spirits and wallets to help a child enjoy Christmas! Last year we were able to help four families with a full Christmas experience from food to trees to presents, too! This year we will try and out do ourselves by increasing that number and taking care of the Guadalupe Family Services in Camden where the poorest of the poor have over 480 children in need and NHS Group Home where we annually care for nine persons without a family to provide a Christmas! Join us and pick your favorite crystal ornament fro the tree located in the Betsy and Walter Diener Room and inside is a small piece of paper with a child’s wish! Grant it, return the tag and gift and be rewarded with the spirit of Christmas again!

💒 The Year of Love Begins!  Our Church begins the “Year of Love” with the First Sunday in Advent! Over the past year, we as a church have been celebrating the Year of Mercy with our brothers and sisters in the Roman Church. We, as a church, voted at this year’s Synod to endorse the Presiding Bishop’s call for a Year of Love! We are called to strive to be as Christ, and love all; not just our friends and families, but those we encounter daily. We are called to be friendly and helpful, charitable and forgiving. Therefore, upon endorsement of the Synod, all clergy, and by their example; their parishioners shall act in love towards everyone. Let the love of Christ be a gift to the world through our Church. Let us set the example of love as we move forward into a new year of uncertainty, being certain only in God’s love for us and our love for others.  May the God of Love bless you all and may we never fail to share His love with all those we meet!

📿 Join God – and us – Every Thursday!
