Sacred Meal Next Week! Please consider joining us for our next Sacred Meal on Wednesday, March 8th at 6:30pm. It is an experience to well…experience! So join us and make your Lent a deeper moment this year!

Easter Flowers Now Available! Please consider joining us in support of the parish by a Memorial or Honor donation toward our Easter Flowers! Please see anyone on staff or pick up a form in the Fellowship Hall or Information Center today!

Holy Week Practice Coming Up. There will be a practice today for all those who will participate in Holy Week and the Easter Triduum after the Morning Mass and a little Cafe’ break on Sunday the 22nd. Join us!

Copier Going Away! As part of our continuing promise to reduce expenses, the large copier in the Laurie Library will be going next month. In its place, will be a smaller unit that we will purchase outright. We continue to develop budgets that reduce expenses, increase our faith and outreach, and remain true to our ‘Green Policy’ to protect God’s earth. Join us!

The Scrutinies of Lent: Last Week was our first of three and it was simply beautiful gathering around our Elect! These are very brief prayers as part of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) are Celebrated on the Third, Fourth, and Fifth Sundays of Lent. They include “The Elect” – that is all of those who are in our midst and are preparing for Baptism, Acceptance through RCIA, and Confirmation. As part of their journey to the font, and to their public accepting our Catholic faith, they are enrolled in the Book of the Elect in the Rite of Election and publicly appear before the Assembly to be prayed for in the final weeks of their journey! It is a beautiful and shared experience for them, their parents, sponsors, and Godparents. Please make every effort to be with the parish at the 10:30am Mass on March 8th, 15th, and 22nd as this is an important step in the preparation for Confirmation. Parents, sponsors, and Godparents are invited to participate as well.

Spring Cleaning Coming Up! Can you help us do an annual spring cleaning? Every year we do a deep cleaning of the parish, the kitchen and pantry, and do a little house keeping painting! Once we have a list of volunteers, we will coordinate a date to gather! If you can help, please see Bridget or email us here!

New Calendar Feature with Celebrants! We have begun to implement a new Master Calendar feature that includes the name of the Celebrating Priest for each liturgy on Thursdays and Sundays! These will be posted within the ‘Description Section’ for each Mass, at least one month ahead! So, now you will know who is scheduled to be the Presider at each service. Obviously, changes do occur, but a feature that will help those who have a favorite to plan better.  Saint Miriam…always thinking of you, our parishioners!

Letters to The Pope. Please write a letter to Pope Francis and ask him to visit us at Saint Miriam? Your letters will be combined with those from the children in our PREP classes. Pope Francis has expressed a strong desire that all Catholics work together and has recently written about it and even met with our Presiding Archbishop of the Communion of Old Catholics. This trip should not be about how much money we can make from his papal visit, but rather what bridges can we build…Please see Shaun Little.

Cafe’ Help Needed. Please consider volunteering in the Saint Miriam cafe’ to help with our warm fellowship experience, or we also need some help in the sacristy with linens and set up. Please see someone on staff today to lend a hand. It is a Lent, let’s sacrifice a little of our time?

Passion Week. Please begin to consider attending the Triduum this year that includes Holy Thursday (7pm), Good Friday (3pm), and The Great Vigil of Easter (7pm). Then attend Easter Sunday Mass at 10:30am. This year, we have a brand new way to bring the Gospel and Passion to life! Download a flyer now! More next week…for now, please begin to plan and allow us to journey with you through the most sacred of weeks in the Christian Calendar.

The Scrutinies of Lent Return! These very special rites are celebrated on the middle three Sundays of Lent, at liturgies where the Elect are present. This time can be wonderful to reflect upon the journey these Elect are making during Lent, as an inspiration and source of renewal for us in our journey. These are ancient rites and they may, at first, seem strange to us.  But they are profoundly rooted in our human experience.  We need to examine (scrutinize) how we are, the areas of our lives where we are tempted, or seriously sin – in what we do and what we fail to do.  We really need healing and the strength that can come from the support of our sisters and brothers. Please make every effort to be with the parish at the 10:30am Mass on March 8, 15, and 22. Please invite parents, sponsors, and Godparents, as applicable.

Welcome New Secular Franciscans! The Secular Franciscan Order, formerly known as the Third Order, is a community of Catholic men and women who seek to pattern their lives after Christ in the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi. It was established by St. Francis of Assisi himself early in the thirteenth century. Saint Miriam is a Franciscan Old Catholic Parish, as such we pattern our life and ministry after St. Francis. Members of the SFG learn to deepen their faith, assist in the salvation of their sisters and brothers through the work of their hands, feet, and deepen their intercessory prayer life. Today we welcome a few new members at a simple 1:00pm ceremony in the Sanctuary. They include Donna and Chester Mack, Robert Danner, and Donte Milligan! Join us and pray for them!

PLAN Ahead! Every year, as part of our wise stewardship to you, we offer a financial planning seminar with the assistance and hard work of one of our own, Michael Conk. This year, we will offer TWO! And, to help with your planning, they will occur after the Morning Mass on Sunday! Please mark your calendars! 1st will be Financial Planning and Paying for College on June 28th! And then our #2 is on Social Security/Medicare, and Retirement Planning 101 on October 25th!
