Where Can I Serve?

We are all in this together, not just our ordained priests! We are all called to serve. Jesus told us, his disciples, to make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of Saint Miriam is our mission to the world. It begins within our own community, and after every single Mass spreads out of our parish doors to the local community, to those in need, and even overseas! Our parish members are involved in a variety of ministries and outreach opportunities from things as simple as washing the parish windows as part of our Buildings & Grounds Committee to preparing the church for services as part of our Sacristy Guild, to baking Eucharistic bread for Mass! There are literally hundreds of ways to serve! What will you do to help Jesus today?

Mission Outreach

Saint Miriam is thrilled to be part of the spread of God’s kingdom around the world. We are active in supporting missionaries and building community with our daily prayers. We have supported three missionaries located in the countries of Zambia, India, and Guatemala. Each year, our Saint Miriam Youth Group also serves at local soup kitchens, educational programs for indigent children and food pantries and thrifts shops. We encourage all of our parishioners to respond to God’s call for laborers, whether it means that they move to a foreign country, or live and minister in our own community. Join us and make a real difference!

Music & Song

God-honoring worship is something we strive for. Many of our parish members get involved in our music ministry. Some play their instruments. Some are vocalists. Others are involved in the Saint Miriam Choir. Still others get involved in helping build our children’s drama programs at Christmas (Nativity Play) and Lent (Living Stations of the Cross). These volunteers are an important part of the ministry of our church, using their talents and gifts to glorify God!

Media & Technology

Using media to spread the Gospel is a privilege of this parish community. In an age of widespread technology, we have a stewardship to use these tools as best as possible for kingdom-building purposes. All of our weekly sermons are uploaded to our website in video and audio formats. We also maintain an active Facebook and Twitter feed for additional church communication. And you can even download an app for iPhone and Google, too! Plus, our parish uses video, PowerPoint, and other computer-related media and it takes a team to make it all work! If you have technological talents, we need you and so does God! Join us!

Marriage Counseling

Marriages can be difficult to maintain. Perhaps that is why they are a Vocational Sacrament! Misunderstanding, confusion, resentment, and anger can flare up in any marriage. Several couples, along with our core ministry team at our parish serve other families as marriage counselors. Their role in listening, understanding, helping, and encouraging struggling couples has, by God’s grace, saved marriages, and repaired relationships. Couples have found fresh hope and new joy in a warm and fulfilling relationship with their spouse. We help all couples in all the forms they come in at Saint Miriam! If you need help, just ask!

Prayer Warriors, Yup!

Prayer cannot be overestimated. Prayer moves the hand of God. Our Church is a body of believers dependent upon prayer, and committed to God’s sovereignty. Each Sunday, during the morning service, a team of volunteers is praying for the ministry of the Word. Throughout the week, volunteers from our Prayer Team pray for their pastor, a list of church members, any special requests, and missionary prayer needs. Each Thursday, the parish comes together for a special time of prayer at our weekly Rosary and mid-week Mass. Join us!
