A few PREP Education reminders as we quickly approach Lent!
1. Please remember that each family MUST attend Two (2) Thursday Masses and Rosary. So far this year, only 1 family has fulfilled this obligation. There’s no better time than during Lent to make and extra sacrifice and increase our prayer. During Lent, mass will begin at 6:00pm followed by a simple Stations of the Cross. Please remember to sign in so that there is a record of your attendance.
2. We will hold a Living Stations of the Cross on Saturday, March 19 at 5pm with the children will playing the parts. We will be holding practices after class beginning in a few weeks. This will require a schedule change for those weeks so that we may practice in the sanctuary after mass. As we get closer, I will send out a reminder about this.
3. SCHEDULE CHANGE – We will have class on March 20th (Palm Sunday), however, it will begin at 10:30. We will all then attend the 11:00am Morning Mass and participate in the Palm Procession.
4. Now that we are more than half way through the school year, I just wanted to remind everyone of your obligations. Remember, in order to advance to the next grade in the fall, each child must have achieved each of the following badges. Please remember, these are the requirements for all PREP students (except for PREPlay). See our Saint Miriam Parish PREP Information and Expectations 2015-2016
- Attendance badge (minimum of 25 classes and 2 Thursday masses) Some children have already missed several classes and will not meet this requirement. In order to ensure progression in the program, you MUST contact me at your earliest convenience to set up a time when classes can be made-up. Some families have already done this and I thank you! PLEASE TRY YOUR BEST TO HAVE YOUR CHILDREN AT MASS AND CLASS EACH WEEK!!
- Service work badge (completed required service hours) Please continue to keep track of service hours. Log sheets will be collected prior to the recognition mass in May. Please refer to the letter you were given at the beginning of the year for the number of required hours. I have also attached it to this e-mail for your convenience. Please let me know if you need an additional sheet.
- Stewardship badge (missed no more than four weeks of giving) I am happy to report that most children have been using their envelopes and have adequately been completing their stewardship obligation. Please remember that if you need more envelopes please see me. If you forget an envelope, please just ask the greeter to get you one. Also, always put your child’s name on their envelope so that they receive credit for it.
- Class work/Homework badge (completed at least 80% of required assignments) Please be sure to always check your child’s folder each week. Some folders still have items in there from the fall. Please remove any old items unless told otherwise by their teacher. Also, while homework isn’t given every week, it is important to check the folder to ensure that your child does his/her homework.
- Family participation badge (attended or sold tickets for at least one church event) ALL families were required to either buy or sell 4 tickets for the Silent Auction and Concert. If you still have not made your contribution, please do so at your earliest convenience and please note that it was for the Concert.

A few PREP Education reminders as we quickly approach Lent!
1. There will be an Ash Wednesday service next Wednesday, February 10 at 12:15pm and 6:30pm. Please make every effort to attend with your family. While we learn about Lent in class, it is not a replacement for actually attending and experiencing those things that make up our Catholic Lenten traditions.
