A Prayer for Veterans
(An excerpt from the start of one of the memorial day prayers while stationed on Okinawa, Japan 1999)
“Most eternal God, as Americans, We want to thank you for this great country. We are not proud, but humbled, that in your divine sovereignty we were born or naturalized in such a nation as this.
Thank you for those serving and who have served in the military that protect this country of ours. Thank you for those men and women in our military services who were willing to give their lives and who gave their lives to fight to keep this country free … “

💔 Help us Save a Life? As our parish grows, so do the needs to care for one another and be prepared. We have invested heavily this past year in upgrades and security, but one area we need to address is those with heart issues. Monsignor has asked that we install a AED device (Automated External Defibrillator), a lightweight, portable device that delivers an electric shock through the chest to the heart. The shock can stop an irregular heart rhythm and allow a normal rhythm to resume following sudden cardiac arrest. Sudden cardiac arrest is an abrupt loss of heart function. If it’s not treated within minutes, it quickly leads to death. Sudden cardiac arrest is one of the leading causes of death in the U.S. Over 350,000 people will suffer from sudden cardiac arrest this year . It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere and at any age. An AED is the only effective treatment for restoring a regular heart rhythm during sudden cardiac arrest and is an easy to operate tool for someone with no medical background. If you can help, please see our pastor today. The life saved could be your own.
