🖍Our Children Coloring Stations of the Cross

Our Children in our PREP Programs hand colored their own version of the Stations of the Cross this year to supplement our own set that already adorns our Sanctuary walls! Their colored stations are now hung next to the entry to our Sanctuary to allow us all the opportunity to bring their work to life in prayer, as we gather every Thursday in Lent to pray together at 6:30pm! Aimed at the child in all of us, these stations will be so beautiful and moving! Join us every Thursday and see their work and pray the Stations of the Cross at Saint Miriam! Also, as a reminder, the Children of our PREP Classes will be coming together for Stations on Thursday, March 16th! Join them and show your care and support!

🍍Welcome Donna Mitchell to Our Parish Board!

Every Board member, except for the Executive Board, has imposed term limits for 2-4 years. Many of them automatically renew, but this year a couple members wish to finally step down after several such renewals; who could blame them? They have served well and helped us to be where we are today! So, we are excited to welcome Ms. Donna Mitchell who fill one such position, and we are hoping that someone new will help us by volunteering to serve for a two-year term? We need new wine to continue to strengthen, and to challenge, the status quo! Please see me, or  email me, if you are so inspired. We would be grateful and certainly can use your talent and voice! Welcome Donna!

✈️ Monsignor Away to the South!

However, he leaves us in the very capable hands of Father Bryan! Pray for our pastor, the Confirmandi, and their ministry team, but always pray for one another, too!

🗣Evangelism Comes to Saint Miriam this Lent: First Gathering is Sunday, March 19th!

Since Pope John Paul II called the Church to a new “horizon of evangelization,” there has been increased interest in the mission of evangelization. Parishes and dioceses throughout the United States have active evangelization teams and offices of evangelization. Yet, as central as evangelization is to the mission and life of the Church, there is still reluctance on the part of many Catholics to become involved in it. Why? Simple: Catholics Don’t Do that!  Well, we were actually once a mission parish and look at what we’ve become together? So, we would like to begin with a brief introduction to evangelism – spreading the word – about us and the Old Catholic Church and then set ourselves up for even greater success in the three main areas. We will begin on Sunday, March 19th, at 12:00pm with  our opening topic, “How to Be One Hell of a Catholic Evangelist”!

👨🏼‍🏫‍‍‍‍‍ An Instructed Eucharist is This Sunday!

Many parishioners enjoyed the last time this was done by our pastor and some have expressed a desire for some sort of real-time worship teaching or commentary, which would shed light on the various elements of the Mass. Such a teaching service is often known as an “Instructed Eucharist.” In an Instructed Eucharist the different parts of the service are described: their history, purpose, and rubrics are explained and will take place at the 10:30am Mass on Sunday, March 5th, The First Sunday of Lent to begin to deepen our affection for the Sacrifice of the Mass and our love our Our Lord! Join Monsignor Jim for a wonderful instructed way to learn and grow this Lent!

👏🏼 Big Thanks to Midge & Ro!

A great big Saint Miriam thank you to Midge Olson and Rosemary Johansson for all their hard work in preparing the purple linen drapery we needed to make us ready for Lent! And, in a parish of our size, that is no small task with all the things that need covered! Thank you to both for their great work and to Alan for covering all of the items, even 30 feet in the air!

🏪 A Store Opens at Saint Miriam!

Thanks to Alan, Sean, and Father Jim we now have a new store located in the main corridor outside the sanctuary! Our store is a 24″ x 24″ x 36″ high slatwall tower four sided rotating display! There you will find everything to support our parish from Saint Miriam Water Bottles ad brand new (limited edition) T-shirts to Mass cards and Rosaries and Holding Crosses and more! Stop by and pick up a gift and support our parish, too!

🙏🏼 This Lent, Pray for US?

Over the next 40 days, we ask you to pray without ceasing for our parish – it is a place of hope for so many. Pray for our parish leadership, especially our pastor who bears the biggest weight; pray for our ministry team, school, volunteers, and all who sacrifice to make Saint Miriam possible. We will also send out reminders through our pastoral care prayer team, too. Pray…it is what Christians do!

🖖🏼 Greeters, Ushers,  Crucifers, and Acolytes, Oh My!

This Lenten Season, Monsignor Jim has requested a revamping of the Greeters, Ushers, Crucifers, and Acolytes in an effort to involve more people, and to offer more coverage for every Mass. It is not fair for a parish of our size to ‘see’ the same people always serving in the same roles. It is also a principle cause for burning out! Therefore, we will begin to ‘share things up a bit’ and request that our Greeters and Ushers assigned help folks into the parish as well as usher you out of your pews for Holy Communion. We would also like more children to serve the altar; will you ask your child to become an acolytes in 2017 Please see Deacon Pat or Father Jim this week!

Evangelism Comes to Saint Miriam this Lent: The Dirty Word in Catholics?

The idea is rather simple: after a time of formation this Lent, three teams will be formed. The first team will focus on enriching the actively practicing and involved Catholics in the parish. The second team will reach out to lapsed Catholics in the parish. The third team will contact non-Catholics by providing informal visits to their homes or to public venues for a brief introduction to all that we are at Saint Miriam.

The overall three main areas of our evangelism will encompass (1) Bible, (2) Christ, and (3) The Church. Scripture is the word of God in human language and a source of Divine wisdom. Christ is the Word of God incarnate for us, and the Church is the household of the living God, the pillar and foundation of truth made manifest for our worship and God’s glory and praise!

We will begin with prayer and contemplation through three classes on Sundays (March 19th, 26th, and April 2nd), as an active participant with God to evangelize the community. Scriptural prayer allows us to understand our own lived experience and the experiences of others so that we can present Christ and his gospel in a way that is relevant and life-giving. Only this will bring true peace, justice, and freedom to our world, and only this will satisfy the longing of the human heart.

We will begin on Sunday, March 19th, at 12:00pm with  our opening topic, “How to Be One Hell of a Catholic Evangelist”!

👨🏼‍🏫 An Instructed Eucharist Comes in Lent to Saint Miriam!

Many parishioners enjoyed the last time this was done by our pastor and some have expressed a desire for some sort of real-time worship teaching or commentary, which would shed light on the various elements of the Mass. Such a teaching service is often known as an “instructed eucharist.” In an Instructed Eucharist the different parts of the service are described: their history, purpose, and rubrics are explained and will take place at the 10:30am Mass on Sunday, Match 5th – the First Sunday of Lent – to begin to deepen our affection for the Sacrifice of the Mass and our love our Our Lord! Join Monsignor Jim for a wonderful instructed way to learn and grow this Lent!

Welcome Our NEW Hanging Altar Cross to Saint Miriam!

Worthington Forge has completed the large hanging Altar Cross early and installed this past Monday!!  It is visually spectacular, and yet muted to not detract from the beautiful “Good Shepherd Window!  It was quite a chore for the artist to do what our pastor asked, but they were both successful!  The Cross features entwined ‘wood’ steel rods to match our liturgical set, interwoven and representative of “The Father and The Son’ to create a circular and never-ending space for the “Holy Spirit”! And, at the top is a “Crown of Thorns” seemingly ‘tossed aside’ by Our Lord as He Ascended! Stop and see the beautiful cross this week! And, please see Monsignor Jim or Alan today to sponsor this wonderful creation, or a new Pulpit, scheduled for complete in in March! You may make these memorial tributes in honor of someone you love, too! Two once-in-a-lifetime opportunities! The Altar Cross measures approximately 8 ft. tall  x  4 ft. wide using  3/4 inch beautiful  “wood bark” steel rods that will be bent and interwoven. We also attached a  “crown of thorns” that will hang from one arm of this stunning cross! Please, help us and preserve a legacy for you and your family today!

🏡View Our Full Rectory Plans Now OnLine & Help Us Build!

View the full gallery at our website now to see how the new Friary Rectory will look! Click Here and help us begin to grow a place for our priests today! Our priests give their lives for us and sacrifice in many ways. Monsignor has been living in an RV since we moved to our beautiful campus. But, many do not know the reason is that he sold his home and donated 100% of the proceeds to secure our mortgage here and he also pays for his RV every month on his own! However, Whitemarsh Township sent a notice that he is not permitted to reside on the campus in an RV and he must move immediately.  Therefore, with the generous help of David, Greg, and our team we have designed a new rectory! As you know, we offer many prayers for all of our benefactors, whether donations are large or small.  But, we are now praying intently for those souls who have the means to give us a larger gift. The building of our Friary Rectory must start in the spring, and we are in urgent need of gifts in the range of $5,000-$50,000 to ensure that will happen, but any size gift is welcome and will add up quickly! How we will beg Our Lord to reward you a hundred-fold above and beyond the measure with which you give to us! May God reward you! Thank you for your considerations and prayers. If you can support this effort, please see Alan or Monsignor, or email by Clicking Here.

🏡 The Building of Friary Rectory Has Come to Saint Miriam!

Our priests give their lives for us and sacrifice in many ways. Monsignor has been living in an RV since we moved to our beautiful campus. But, many do not know the reason is that he sold his home and donated 100% of the proceeds to secure our mortgage here. Yes, that’s right! Father gave us all of the money from the sale of his home and because of that generous gift, we were able to enjoy all that way have here today. He also pays for his RV every month on his own! However, Whitemarsh Township sent a notice that he is not permitted to reside on the campus in an RV and he must move immediately. The notice is now almost three months old and we have been working toward a solution and they have allowed us some leeway to get a plan done. Therefore, with the generous help of David, Greg, and our team we have designed a new rectory! Soon the proposed architectural drawings will be posted in the Diener Room and we will be seeking your support. As you know, we offer many prayers for all of our benefactors, whether donations are large or small.  But, we are now praying intently for those souls who have the means to give us a larger gift. The building of our Friary Rectory must start in the spring, and we are in urgent need of gifts in the range of $10,000-$50,000 to ensure that will happen. How we will beg Our Lord to reward you a hundred-fold above and beyond the measure with which you give to us! May God reward you! Thank you for your considerations and prayers. If you can support this effort, please see Alan or Monsignor, or email by Clicking Here.

💗 Come on! Grab A Yard Sign And Help Us Grow!

We often try and find new and innovative ways to spread the word about this wonderful parish we call home. Now, you can help! Please pick up a yard sign today from anyone on our team after Mass and take it home and display it in your front yard. At the end of the month, return it to us so we can hand it out to another family to do the same! Through your  efforts, we will continue to spread the word about Saint Miriam and save marketing costs, too!
