🏡 The Building of Friary Rectory Has Come to Saint Miriam!

Our priests give their lives for us and sacrifice in many ways. Monsignor has been living in an RV since we moved to our beautiful campus. But, many do not know the reason is that he sold his home and donated 100% of the proceeds to secure our mortgage here. Yes, that’s right! Father gave us all of the money from the sale of his home and because of that generous gift, we were able to enjoy all that way have here today. He also pays for his RV every month on his own! However, Whitemarsh Township sent a notice that he is not permitted to reside on the campus in an RV and he must move immediately. The notice is now almost three months old and we have been working toward a solution and they have allowed us some leeway to get a plan done. Therefore, with the generous help of David, Greg, and our team we have designed a new rectory! Soon the proposed architectural drawings will be posted in the Diener Room and we will be seeking your support. As you know, we offer many prayers for all of our benefactors, whether donations are large or small.  But, we are now praying intently for those souls who have the means to give us a larger gift. The building of our Friary Rectory must start in the spring, and we are in urgent need of gifts in the range of $10,000-$50,000 to ensure that will happen. How we will beg Our Lord to reward you a hundred-fold above and beyond the measure with which you give to us! May God reward you! Thank you for your considerations and prayers. If you can support this effort, please see Alan or Monsignor, or email by Clicking Here.

💵 Consider An End-of Year Gifts That Sustain Saint Miriam?

One of the ways we remain financially strong and viable is that we pay off all outstanding vendor debt by the end of every year.  Is is easy?  No, but from the date of our founding some almost nine years ago, were have achieved this with the generous help from all of you! Why? Our pastor decided to implement this policy from the start of the parish, because he noticed that too many parishes fail as debt increases and then becomes insurmountable. Does it work?  Yes! Think about it, in less than eight years Saint Miriam did the impossible: built a vibrant and growing parish, school, and cemetery with little debt and growing revenue. Please…if you are considering a generous gift, make it by December 31st – take the tax benefit and allow us to move into 2017 on a strong footing! See Monsignor or Alan today or Click Here to make a generous gift online!

Join us for The Longest Night This Coming Wednesday!

Saint Miriam, will once again offer the community what has become widely known as a “Blue Christmas” service we entitle, The Longest Night this coming  Wednesday, December 21st 2016 at 6:30pm. This service recognizes that not everyone is up and cheery for the Christmas holidays.  There is a growing attentiveness to the needs of people who are ‘blue’ at Christmas. Increasing numbers of churches are creating sacred space for people living through dark times. Such services are reflective, accepting where we really are, and holding out healing and hope. And that is why Saint Miriam will hold its The Longest Night Service on the actual Winter Solstice, the longest day of the year, with the year’s least amount of daylight. Symbols not to be lost or overlooked.

A Little Press For The Longest Night, Too!

End of Year Giving is Needed: Please Help Us This Year?

One of the ways we remain financially strong and viable is that we pay off all outstanding vendor debt by the end of every year. Is is easy? No, but from the date of our founding some almost nine years ago, were have achieved this with the generous help from all of you! Why? Our pastor decided to implement this policy from the start of the parish, because he noticed that too many parishes fail as debt increases and then becomes insurmountable. Does it work? Yes! Think about it, in less than eight years Saint Miriam did the impossible: built a vibrant and growing parish, school, and cemetery with little debt and growing revenue. Please…if you are considering a generous gift, make it by December 31st – take the tax benefit and allow us to move into 2017 on a strong footing!See Monsignor today!

⏰ A Change in PREP/CCD Classes The Week and Next!

As you know, we have our Nativity Play coming up on Sunday, December 18th following the 10:30am Morning Mass. To ensure we are ready, we will need to have a full practice in the church this Sunday, December 11th.  To make that happen, we will need to move the Family Mass to 10:30am this week and again on December 18th.  Everything will remain the same.  PREPlay children will still go to class after the homily and the PREP children will go to class after Communion until 11:45.  We will then all practice in the Sanctuary after class. Also, as I mentioned in a previous e-mail, we are in need of a few PREPlay children to participate as well.  They should be able to stay seated and attentive for about 45 minutes.  If your child(ren) plan to participate, please remain after their class so that they can practice with the other children. Please Shaun Little know if you have any questions. Also, since this is our only full cast practice, please make every effort to be in attendance on Sunday.

As we get closer to Christmas, we begin to turn our thoughts to those without and every year we open our generous spirits and wallets to help a child enjoy Christmas! Last year we were able to help four families with a full Christmas experience from food to trees to presents, too! This year we will try and out do ourselves by increasing that number and taking care of the Guadalupe Family Services in Camden where the poorest of the poor have over 480 children in need and NHS Group Home where we annually care for nine persons without a family to provide a Christmas! Join us and pick your favorite crystal ornament fro the tree located in the Betsy and Walter Diener Room and inside is a small piece of paper with a child’s wish! Grant it, return the tag and gift and be rewarded with the spirit of Christmas again!

 The Year of Love Begins!

Our Church begins the “Year of Love” with the First Sunday in Advent! Over the past year, we as a church have been celebrating the Year of Mercy with our brothers and sisters in the Roman Church. We, as a church, voted at this year’s Synod to endorse the Presiding Bishop’s call for a Year of Love! We are called to strive to be as Christ, and love all; not just our friends and families, but those we encounter daily. We are called to be friendly and helpful, charitable and forgiving. Therefore, upon endorsement of the Synod, all clergy, and by their example; their parishioners shall act in love towards everyone. Let the love of Christ be a gift to the world through our Church. Let us set the example of love as we move forward into a new year of uncertainty, being certain only in God’s love for us and our love for others.  May the God of Love bless you all and may we never fail to share His love with all those we meet!

Don’t Forget! Advent Reflections Booklet Are Available…

Believe it or not, it is almost Advent! And, annually, we help prepare you spiritually for the coming of Christ with a popular, easy-to-use annual booklet called Advent & Christmas: Waiting in Joyful Hope! During the especially busy Advent and Christmas seasons, this booklet offers brief, down-to-earth reflections that bring prayer and Scripture into everyday life in a thought-provoking and lasting way. This year’s reflections are by Bishop Robert Morneau and provide deeply insightful reflections on Scripture readings from the daily Mass, and every reader will grow in their understanding of the word of God. This book will help busy people achieve their goal of enriching their personal prayer life during the seasons of Advent and Christmas.
